I am trying to make a similar graphic to the one on this template: http://www.templatemonster.com/screenshots/2500/2575-a.jpg I'm mainly talking about the green image in the middle, and the navigation buttons.

It's just a gradient... Not really anything else to explain. Just draw a gradient. Then the little seperators are narrow gradients that go the opposite direction...
