How can I save a nice gradient jpeg? I can't seem to get rid of the horizontal lines that seperate the colors.

I am not sure what you mean by lines, but if you save it as a .gif and there are more than 256 colors needed for a smooth gradient you will see lots of lines. A .jpg shouldn't have any problem at all? Can you post a screen shot of the image?

And the "helpful and friendly - award goes to kranekick!!" Harsh, but probably the case? Try saving it as 9 - 12 quality and the lines should probably dissapear. If you're using it for a website, look if you can tile it. Then you could save it as a ...say 10px wide / high strip and tile it instead of making a huge picture? I don't know the purpose of the gradient but if it's for a background of some sort, then that's a good way to do it. |

More than you'll probably ever need to know about what gradient banding is, what conditions cause it and how best to eliminate or hide it for different end uses, http://www.ledet.com/margulis/ACT_postings/ColorCorrection/ACT-Banding-16-20bit-8-bit.htm http://www.ledet.com/margulis/ACT_postings/ColorCorrection/ACT-16bit-histogram.htm http://www.corecomm.us/support/tech_tips/coloruse/gradients.cfm |

The only dumb question in any forum is the one not asked. I had the quality set at maximum for a jpeg and it still wouldn't work. I tried the same on a different computer and it worked fine. Must be something wrong with some computer settings. I will find out. Thanks for the help anyways.
