how do you make shapes

How do you design custom shapes like tabs and banners and such. I do not want just a plain rectangle or square.

here are some examples of what I mean

There are a whole bunch of ways.

1) you could edit a rectangle w/ your polygonal lasso (or pen)
2) you could use your line tool / shape tool or custom shape tools
3) you could make a rectangular selection and use the modify options (smooth mostly...but contract and expand are helpful)
4) u could draw the shapes by hand with the pen tool
5) u could draw the shapes by hand with the pencil tool (set to 1 px)
6) you could draw with the polygonal lasso and stroke/fill it....

and then u can do any one of the above and edit it further. Just experiment. Start with a rectangle and go from there

select it with the magic wand then right click, and choose make work path.. then choose pen tool right click and choose make custom shape.
