Ok, I have no idea what the hell is going on with this damnded computer, but everytime I make an image in photoshop, then upload it to the web, it seems darker. Grey becomes black, orange becomes dark orange ... its really annoying. Does anyone else have this problem? Or know why this is happening?

Turning off color management usually fixes it I think. Edit > Color Settings > Settings: Color Management Off |

When is the last time you calibrated your monitor? If your calibration is off your colors can look different when the image is viewed outside of Photoshop.

Because Photoshop is a color-managed application, and most web browsers aren't (the ones that are: Mac-only), you probably want to turn color management off. Also, if you jump to ImageReady instead of Save For Web to optimize your GIFs and JPEGs, you'll have the option to adjust the Gamma while previewing in simulated Mac and Windows monitor settings. The best you can do is find a happy medium. Also, consider the fact that MOST users have no clue about monitor profiling, Color Management, or Gamma settings, so just do the best you can with your set-up and live with the results. Every user will see something different—sometimes just a little different, sometimes A LOT different— on their system. |
