I have been trying to use the magnetic lasso tool in Photoshop 7 to select part of an image. I want to extract as much detail as possible, so I have been zooming in real close and laying down a lot of anchors mapping out the image. When I am nearing completion, I get an error message saying that it is too complex to complete. Is there a way to adjust the magnetic lasso tool, so that it will stop giving me an error, or is there a better why to select a complex image?

Hey Coltrane: I don't know about the magnetic lasso tool. But one other method you can use is to extract the part of the picture you want. There's a cool tutorial on this here: http://www.gfxlab.com/tutorials/tuts/extract/extract.htm You can also do a quick mask on your and then turn it into a selection to get the part you want. I hope this helps you a bit. Cheers and welcome to the club! |

As well as a host of other pro PS tips and techniques there is a great section on different types of masking if you are interested. http://members.ozemail.com.au/~binaryfx/PSTV_links.html#M - Like I always say, it is a little dry going, but worth it's weight in gold. |
