I have a PS (7.0) layer and want to replace speicfic RGB values with a nother RGB value. For example replace RGB (220,220,220) with RGB (125,135,145). I am trying to create an action to automate this process for multiple PSD.files (approx 50) that need the same RGB value conversion. I tried using the "replace color" but this defined an area to modify not a specific RGB value. Can someone help me out? Will another application do the job?Thank you.

Mmmmm, that's a tough one.

If it were only one picture you could just zoom in really hard (1600%) and then click the color of the pixel you want to change with the magic wand. That way you'll select all the pixels of the exact same color in your image (make sure to put "0" for tollerance).

After that you could just fill your new made selection with the desired color.

But i dont think this is possible for multiple images. (in photoshop it's not).

Unless anyone can prove me wrong ??

A way that theoretically will work would be:

1. Using the Eye Dropper tool, grab the color of the pixel in the top left corner.
2. Switch Foreground and Background color.
3. Set the Foreground Color as the color you're going to replace.
4. Make a 1px pencil mark with the Foreground Color in the top left corner of the document.
5. Using the Magic Wand tool, 0 tolerance, uncheck all boxes, select the pixel in the top left corner (the one that is going to be replaced).
6. Set the Foreground Color as the new color you're going to replace with.
7. Fill Selection.
8. Switch Foreground and Background color.
9. Make a 1px pencil mark with the Foreground Color in the top left corner of the document (in order to fix the initial mark we made).
10. Save.

There's probably a faster way to do it, but since it's going to be automated it doesn't really matter as long as it works.

It is quite simple to build a custom filter (plug-in) with Plugin Commander or FilterMeister . If you still need the replacement, mail me at trutacs@easynet.ro and by the end of the next week I shall have some free time to do this for you. To process more pictures with this filter (batch processing), I think you need the shareware version of PiCo, but you will manage with my filter, one by one.

I forgot to state that you should save the above in an action, then go to File->Automate->Batch... , select the action from the pulldown menu on top, select source folder and destination and click OK, it'll run through the action for all of the images, should take no less than a minute in total.
