Hello, does anyone know if it's possible to export a desired (fixed) file size with a batch automation in Photoshop? For example: I have 50 images (*.jpg) that have different file sizes (25k, 15k, 45k etc) now I would like to export a fixed file size to 10k for all images... I have tried this in Photoshop and in Fireworks, but the Programs exported 10K or less and sometimes even greater than 10k  I would really be happy if someone knows a way to do this or if there are any stand-alone programs that can automate and export targeted file sizes. thank you in advance greetings Mr_Mayfly |

you might be able to do it with a "Droplet" but if the images are different sizes, when they get scaled, they will look progressively worse. is hard to batch anything that involves dimensions, i had to scale a few hundred images, and i spent more time separating them into folders than i spent creating the action. but it was worth it, then i had separate action for different dimensions and batched it. try creating a few different droplets so you can drag a drop a bunch at once |

The problem is each file is a different size, so it isnt smart enough to determine whether to reduce the file size 20kb or 10kb. You could take the largest file size, create an action that reduces it to the desired size, then batch rest from that action. That way they would all be under your max size.

If most were 10kb and 20kb and one or two was 50kb, then he'd have to make it go 1/5. But then most of them would turn out 2kb and 4kb, way off from the desired 10kb. I guess that would work if there wasn't a broad difference in file sizes (like 15-25kb) but if there was a broad difference - I dont think it would work out. tom |
