I want to create text with a image inside the text. I found these steps but they don't seem to work. Do I have to save something as a .gif first or is there something wrong with my steps? 1. Create a New File with a White Background. 2. From the Layers menu (the little arrow in the upper right of the Layers window), select New Layer. Name the layer Text 3. Use the Text tool to write something. 4. Make a new layer titled image 5. From the File menu, select Open and open any image. 6. From the Select menu, choose All 7. From the Edit menu, choose Define Pattern 8. Select the Images Layer from the Layers window. From the Edit menu, choose Fill. 9. On the Content pull-down menu of the Fill dialogue, select Pattern. 10. Again, use the layers options and opacity slider to overlay the two layers. 11. From the Layers menu (the little arrow in the upper right of the Layers window), select Flatten Image. 12. Save your image as a JPG with a .jpg extension.  |

Try changing your fill properties to pattern before you actually fill the layer.

Oh well I don't know then. I wouldn't even do it that way. I would just CTRL + Click on the text layer, then copy paste your image layer, then invert the selection, and press delete. Seems a lot easier to me.

ok i figured it out in like a few minutes. 1. File> New 2. Write some text. Rasterize that layer. 3. Select the text. 4. Delete the content of that selection. (ie. select the text hit 5. Open a new image. 6. Select the part of the image you want in your text (all, or just a part) 7. Edit> Define Pattern Save it. 8. Fill the text selection. In the Fill dialog box. Contents = Use Pattern Custom Pattern = Drop down the little menu and there will be a thumbnail of the selection you saved as a pattern. Click it. Change the other options if you want, if not click ok. 9. You're done. This worked for me on photoshop 6, I don't know about other versions and how similar the commands are, but this should work for ya. |
