I got a pic with 700x400 dimension.
Within the pic there are another 3 layers of pics (50x50) smaller than the initial pic and each of these pic have different coordinate.

At the moment, I ONLY want to save one of the small pics, named spic1. So, other pics visibility are taken off (initial and the other small pic) and I chose Save As png file because I only want that spic1 visible and the rest off.

Photoshop helps me to save the spic1 as png file but the actual canvas size is still 700x400.

How do I get rid of that extra dimension and save the pic, same size as it was (50x50) while on 700x400 dimension? Help me please.

It there any other way besides making a new document on canvass size wanted, copy and paste the small pic into it?

You could adjust the canvas size, Then position it where you need it, then save as png, then undo till your back to your normal size. Does that make sense?

Highlight the layer you want to keep.

Command Click [CTRL-Click] in the Highlighted Layer in the Layers Palette.

Then, follow these shortcuts, in order:

Command-C, Command-N, Enter, Command-V.

There ya go, New Document, just the size you want. Save as necessary.

If he had a transparent portion to the layer he was saving, could he not just use IMAGE>TRIM>TRANSPARENT PIXELS?

Or am I missing a vital piece of the explanation (I don't doubt I have misunderstood;))

Doing that would trim the rest of the hidden layers in the canvas, making him/her lose all of the work they have done so far if she/he were to save.

But again, that's not a problem. Thats just what the Geckster said - trim the transparent, save, undo. Not a big deal.

U23's method could be done with only the left hand ...

Assuming we're on the layer already and with the given conditions:

CTRL+A
CTRL+C
CTRL+N
SHIFT+TAB x2
SPACE
CTRL+V

Save

shortcut-whore is fun!
