Hiya guys, just found this site and decided to join up.

Recently I've gotten into web/graphic design thanks to my mum buying me Photoshop 7. I've seen sites like this, somethingleet.com and deviantart. And I've seen many images that are like metal explosions. I won't post links as they are peoples work, who might not want me to post them, but anyway.

I wanted to know what programs should be used to create those, do people use Photoshop? Someone told me about two programs, Bryce and 3D Studio Max, which sound more up to the job in creating those pieces of art.

But if its possible in Photoshop, and you know how, please give me some help in creating them. ie. What filters/plugins I need etc

Thank you in advance, SunGod.

first, welcome.

In all honesty, if you're new to photoshop...
I'd suggest you start by reading the manual and trying on your own to do basic stuff.

Those overdone "metallic explosions" are boring, and besides made with 3D apps, then imported into photoshop to spice them up. If you're going to design stuff, don't go all filteristic on yourself. Learn the basics and ideas behind design first.

Also, I think it's allright to post other people's stuff as long as you don't claim to have done them.

Again, welcome to the forum, it's a great place to learn and get feedback.

Heh, thanks. I know most of the basics already, and I've made the splash page for

www.takenforums.cjb.net

I see what you mean about metallic explosions though, they do seem overdone.

Well, thanks again guys
