No matter how much I try, I can't get it right, however, I do all the steps perfectly. Please go to ... http://www.neofrog.com/tips/seg_pipe.html I already know how to make the pipe, so I don't need to know that. I need someone to explain in more detail, on how to do the tutorial. I do every step right, and when I come upon step 4, it starts to not work. Unless I'm doing something wrong with making a pipe, or I'm doing something wrong with the Segmented Pipes, what am I doing wrong? Could someone help me? |

Looks like you just erase parts of the top layer to me. Did you do that? You just make a shape, then duplicate it, make it a little bigger, hide the original layer, select the new layer... (bigger one) and erase little lines like he has there. Then unhide the original layer. What's the problem?

How do you hide it? Is it the "eye" icon? I unclicked the "eye" icon, to make it invisible, but the top image still doesn't change. I tried it like 5 times, I still end up with screwy results. I'll try again, but I'd doubtI'd get it right. |

Yes, click the eye to make the original layer invisible. Then make sure you have the second layer selected. Then erase the parts of it. And remember to make it bigger first.

Now I'm even more confused. On step 2, when it says, "fill the selection with black, then duplicate the layer", wouldn't that bring up 3 layers then? Because the originaly pipe is layer 1, then it says to create a new layer to fill with black, then it says to duplicate it. That equals 3 layers don't it? Then why does the picture on the next step, show only 2 steps? I'm confused now. I don't even know how to do it anymore!! Ahhh, the torture. Please help me. |

the tutorial looks to be slightly mistyped - which is maybe confusing you. As he says you need two pipe layers (made with the method described in the other "pipe" tutorial). The pipe on the top layer is 3 pixels fatter than the other. This is done by expanding the selection as described and using the same technique with both pipes. YOU NEED TO LOOK AT THE OTHER TUTORIAL so that you can make the pipes. The rest of the technique you should be able to work out. - hopefully |

This is the same message I replied on the other post. But this I really need explained. Thats what I was saying ... The wording on the tutorial seems to be wrong - you dont "duplicate" the layer at all!! just go by the screenshots thats a better guide. Read my post above! If you want to complain write an email to Neofrog - the wording is definately wrong |

Don't duplicate it!?!?! OMG  You mean I wasted over 1 hour trying to figure the thing out, when I wasn't even supposed to do part of it!?!?! Man, markzebra, how did you know not to duplicate it? Well, whatever the reason, I thank you with my life. I thought I was too young to actually understand the complications of the tutorial. But man, it was NeoFrog all along!! RGGGGGGGGG  Anyway, thanks again zebra :D |
