Hey, I'm wondering, how do I change the color of things as fine as hair? An example of what I mean is the hair of this woman: http://www.worth1000.com/entries/42500/42840i4PM_w.jpg (You may have to copy and paste the link) It is an entry at Worth1000.com Notice how the hairs color was changed but not her face by her hair. Thanks if you can help. |

The first thing you would have to do is select the hair (this is the hardest part). I would use channels to start with cause the hair color is quite different from the face...so like the blue channel would be a good place to start. I would use "color range" in the selection menu....using the +eyedroper to get all of the simliar colors. Then i would go in with the polygonal lasso (anti-aliased) and trace the edges of the hair..trace the hairs that go across her face and +/- from the selection as needed. (be sure to zoom WAY in for this process). Once you got a decent selection just use an adjustment layer or fill the selection on a new layer (above the photo) and set to color mode. I would go with the new layer set to color mode because if your selection wasnt that good you can go back and paint in the areas you missed with a soft brush. Also if you dont want to take the time to select everything...you could just use a new layer (set to color mode) and paint over the hair (if you had a steady hand...) |

i might try adding a new layer, setting the mode to color, at a medium opacity, and use that method. another one is just to mask the hair, then use a hue/saturation adjustment layer. |
