I would like to first thank all of the member on this site for helping me with all of the questions I have had over the past few months. But I need help one more time with a problem that I have been having for a while.

I want to be able to blend colors like you see here or the ones you see on most movie posters. My problem comes in when most people try to help me with this I just don’t get it.

If someone could give me a step-by-step guide to do it or a step-by-step tutorial I would appreciate it.

I would like to thank you in advance for all of your help, I really appreciate it.

Do you want a blended color overlay or just a color overlay? I am no expert in Photoshop, but to me that is what both samples looked like. Just overlays. I made a similiar overlay, is this what you need help with?

Ok, there are two ways I know how to do this that are really simple. First, you can add a hue/saturation overlay found under

layer
new adjustment layer
hue/saturation

in the top menu. Make sure you check the colorize check box in the lower right hand corner. You can adjust the settings to your liking. Secondly, you could create a new layer on top of the picture you want to colorize and add a plain color or a gradient, after doing that change the layer opacity and/or the layer modes. If you need further instructions just let me know. I am here to be as helpful as possible. :D
