This is probably farily easy to achieve, but I'm curious about an effect done by Shadowness - :: link ::. I'd like to use a similar effect to blend a background together in a layout, but what I have tried so far has failed. Does anyone know how to ahcive this, to the same style? I.E. coing out like rays of light. NOTE: The arrows point the the ffect in question. P.S. I didn't notice the techniuq forum before posting this, so if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it. |

wait. huh? I didn't really understand your question. What kind of blending do you want to do? seems here that the bg coils are just of a lower opacity, though that might not be the case, I don't know. Maybe I'm just not comprehending :/ pat |

Well. I have a layout here, and in the corner, I woul like to add some blurred effect to smudge out the background, so the lines won't eb visable when I put some 3Dsm work in there. Thing is, I've never tried it before. was hoping someone could tell me what was done in this picture: whether he just used the reflection and eraser, or made a gradient and feathered it or what. |

You can try making line of gradient, maybe a 20x100 rectangle then apply the motion blur filter on it with a fairly high setting. Then just duplicate the layer until it's fairly visible and merge them all except for one. The last duplicate layer can be set to different Layer modes, maybe overlay or something.

[ Example (1024x400) ] Here I whipped up a quick example. The initial gradient box is on the top left. I applied the motion blur filter with a distance of 300 and after a bit of the smudge tool I got the result on the top right. After duplicating that layer twice, I merged them together to make it visible. With the extra duplicate layer, I switched the layer mode to Overlay and finished it off with the smudge tool. You can probably come up with something better if you put a bit more time than I did. |
