What basic sans-serif font saves the best in Photoshop? Im looking for something really basic, like Arial or Verdana. Im finding that when I various fonts, they have lots of tiny jaggies around them and dont look sharp. Ive messed with the anti-alising methods, but none seem to get the sharp looking fonts in headers i see all over the web. So does anyone know of a specific plain sans-sarif font i can use for a header (probably 24-30 pix) that saves really nice and sharp? maybe a dumb question but oh well, thanks :D

There is nothing wrong with any of the fonts you mention and there is no "best" font out there. Some are better for the job. Some look horrible when small, but its hard to say what is the "best " font. Show us what your problem is. If you dont have anti-aliasing on most fonts look horrible. Some are meant to not have anti-aliasing on, like pixel fonts.

yea, i guess my question is whats a nice simple sans-serif font that looks nice around 24-30 px AND 8-10 px? All the fonts ive tried look alright big, but crappy small and i obviously want the fonts to match. also, i dont want to use a pixel font. some fonts ive tried are...helios, holland, arial, and others.

Try century gothic if you have it - I like that font.

hmm, Helvetica, Trebuchet MS, Andale Sans, Avenir, Bauhaus... you get the idea, the list is endless.

Make sure that you are not over compressing the image. Unless you have other complicated colour gradiations in your picture then probably GIF would be a better option for saving your picture.

Make sure that you have anti-aliasing turned on in the context sensitive tool bar, unless as stated you are using a bitmap font.
