Hey, i believe this is the right forum, if not sorry. I'm printing on a epson 200p, and using photoshop 7. When I print on the watercolor paper, my prints have been coming out really dull, and it looks like there's a haze over them. Does anyone know what kind of adjustments I might try in photoshop to help resolve this issue? Thanks.

Set the DPI of your image higher. Like 300 dpi is optimal for printing I think.

How does the Ink interact with the paper? Does it soak in or sit on top? Cause if it soaks into the fibers then you'll get a dull look. If it sits on top it will be sharp and colorful.

well, i am printing at 300 dpi as is, so I don't think that's the issue. Also, the paper absorbs a lot of ink, however, these particular prints have been coming out duller than normal, which has driven me to post this.

did you make the image at 300dpi or did you resample it? Also you could try changing your paper (photo paper is usually the best) and you may want to check your printer settings for print quality..paper type and color. Also be sure your not running low on ink...this would def. give you a ugly/hazy print.

they were scanned in at 300 dpi. i've printed them on other types of paper and it works fine. It's all photo quality. On the archival matte paper, which retains the original quality for up to 100 years, it prints fine, same with the luster paper. It's just this watercolor I can't get it to print right on. And it's not even all my prints, just a couple. It gets me sooooo angry i have to freakin go on a break from work sometimes, and just leave that job sitting there done, waiting to be printed.

hmmm. Im @ at loss. Did you change rgb to cmyk or anything like that? Thats really the last problem area i could think of.

I almost want to say check your color profiles....but "And it's not even all my prints, just a couple" i guess the profiles wouldnt be a problem...

Maybe your out of a certain color ink? Is there a common color in the hazy prints thats not as common in the good prints? (maybe your low on black??)

sorry...i cant really help much. Maybe try searching the net see if other ppl have had problems with the watercolor paper or similar problems to the ones your having now or even problems with your specific printer model......

Glossy or matte paper? This makes a huge difference in not only dot gain, but sharpness of the image. Try printing on a gloss and see how it turns out.
