Brush won't change color

I make a new image with transparent contents and my brush will only draw in transparent NOT in the color I select. Anyone know why this is happening?

i dont know if im right but did u choose greyscale when u choose the new size for ure canvas? u have to choose RGB

Nope, I'm making an RGB color image. The pencil tool works fine but the art history brush will only paint in transparent for some reason.

Transparent... maybe you're confusing it with translucent.

Your description is very vague, but it sounds like the brush opacity is lower than 100%. In the Brush options, check to see if it's set to 100%. If not, it'll act like the airbrush.
