has anyone ever made a tutorial, walkthrough, how-to, etc on how they make one of their 3d wallpapers? doing a bunch of tutorials that teach each part then putting it all together isn't really what i get. i prefer a walkthrough from start to finish on a project...anyone seen this? any help is appreciated. thanks in advance. |

well, uh...take one of the elite images from shadowness.com [sp?] for example...i want to know how you start [eg which program] say start in 3ds...make this, render it, then what you do in photoshop. so basically a 'making a complete 3d elite wallpaper' hope this makes more sense. |

Mackie, there really isn't a tutorial for that kind of thing. And if there was, would you really be happy with the results if you just followed a "recipe"? Learn some of the techniques involved in making them instead (very basic stuff for the most part) and then use a little creativity. It takes a lot of time to put one of those types of images together. It's not something you can just sit down and follow step-by-step.

um, as i stated in the first post, i dont like doing the "learn each piece and then see if you can throw it together." walking through a project like this would help me learn how it is done. everyone does not learn the same way.

thats very true mackie....but the problem is there isnt a tutorial out there (that i know of anyway) that will show you every single step. Thats to much trouble for the authors to go through. Some info......... 1. Even though you may not enjoy the "here is the idea...put it together yourself" technique...in my opinion you will learn more from it. 2. Your setting your goals a bit high. shadowness.com has some quality art....and looking for tuts/trying to replicate that quality/style will only set you up for a massive amounts of fustration!!! Your looking to go from "ok...how do i even start one of these images" to about 50 hours worth of work. Thats like 0-60 in 1 second and if your going that fast...you will def. "crash"! |

i've been doing technique articles, it's just using which ones, which programs, how to throw it together etc that im having trouble with. and shadowness.org was just a example, anything that uses 3dsmax and photoshop as a complete tutorial would be cool. since i havent seen any "so you want to make a 3d wallpaper eh?" articles...i was hoping there would be a walkthrough type of tutorial out there. almost like looking over someones shoulder.

I've looked around now. I don't seem to be able to find any tut like that either. I don't think there is one. That would be a BIG tut... Rod an' the other ones right. I think you'll just have to learn ie 3DSM or Cinema first. Then learn photoshop and go from there. I can appreciate your opinion, but there are no shortcuts in this, sorry |
