hey there, I've come up with this little problem with my text. When I want to make them really small (like 1pt or 2pt) it gets all blury and messed up... I used fonts like the ones you can see here http://www.dsg4.com/04/extra/bitmap/index.html But I can't get the same quality with really small size like you see in those examples... I've tried the sharp, smooth, strong, none, etc but no none gives a good quality.... -_- any idea on that? thx in advance |

1 pt or 2 pt? do you understand the concept of font size? a font will not be readable at 1 or 2 pixels. that would mean that each letter would only be 1 or 2 pixels high. that is impossible. those fonts you are looking at are best used from 6-10 font size, most of the time 8 is a good small size.

I know all that, but 1 pt isn't 1 pixel... if you look at the writtings on the buttons of this forum, you'll see that they are not at 6 or 8pt cause 6 or 8 is too big... they are probably at 2 pt maybe 3... the thing is they look clean without any blur edge... to have that do I need to creat them by myself? |

Different fonts will look different at the same sizes. Some fonts have large X heights which makes it easier to read even at small sizes. I have seen some fonts that look nearly twice as big next to another font even though they were both set at 10pt. Maybe try another font or something. Although I also doubt these where set at 2 or 3 points, that is a bit small. I just tried it in PS and its incredibly small on a 800x600 page. BTW, it is also bad to determine your font height by points when working for the web. http://www.hut.fi/u/hsivonen/units.html |

2-3pt is huge... :T When you're using pixel fonts, it's best if you switch the font scale to pixels rather than points; that way you can specify an exact multiple of the default pixel size (popular size is 8px). Set font-size to 8px, 100% height and no anti-aliasing. |

I think he is confusing font size (value of 1-7, where 3 is the default browser size of around 12pt.) Font size is different than point. Point is what you set in PS under the character size. or in any word doc. etc. |

You can change your preferences in PS to set type in pixels rather then points. To me though, I can't think that way. Type is in points all the way.

Dude The reason why is because he's putting anti-aliasing, fewls. When you are typing, there is a menu up top that has the following selections, "none, sharp, crisp, smooth, strong". That's anti-aliasing. If you're making your font really really small, and it's blurring, chances are because you've anti-aliased. Take it off and it should be sharp. |
