I have been working on something in photoshop 6.0. I saved the file as a JPEG. When I open the file in another program, the canvas background shows up. I want to get rid of it. How do I do this? I can make the background disappear in Photoshop, but I need to know how to get rid of it when opened in another program or when printed. Thanks, Christian Castillo |

Just get rid of it in Photoshop, then click File >>> Save For Web >>> choose .gif, and choose transparency.

just letting you know, that if you want to print the image, dont save it as a .gif .. as most of you guys know gif is based on a color scale of 256 colors at the max.. Therefore if you want to print it, you will have to save it as a .tiff, .eps ect. ect. But printing also requires a optimized dpi (dots per inch), img size ect ect... Actually a decent print takes more than the average user knows ![]() Anyway, if you want to print it, let me know.. i'll guide you through saving it without the bg, inserting it into another program and such... hope that is of any help ![]() |

Also understand that Indexed color can be ANY 256 colors. It could be 256 shades of gray if you want...doesn't have to be the standard "rainbow" color set. |
