I'm looking for a way to recreate the effect of an actual stamp. I'd like to be able to create a stamp that says FIRST CLASS like that on an envelope and eventually I'd like to manipulate a logo to look like it was stamped. I'm hoping to use this on stationary and brochures so I need a high-res solution. Any suggestions? Anything is appreciated.

This might give you start. its a photoshop brush set of stamps, etc. It sounds like what you want to do is create a brush set. You can create the images, or scan some stamps in, and some marks, etc. and create the brush sets.

Here is a simple explanation on how to make brushes and brush sets:

the good thing about brushes is you can make them at any resolution.

I'm not to familiar with brushes. Basically my goal is to make the logo look like it was stamped onto a piece of paper. I'm downloading and installing the brush now and I'll play around with it a bit to see what I can come up with.

You use brushes all the time in Photoshop. The cool thing is they are extremely easy to make. Any image you have open in photoshop can be made into a brush set. All you do is Edit --> Define brush, and what you see on the canvas is now a brush. One trick --> if you dont want a background, then hide that layer before defining the brush. That way if you want like a watermark or something, but you want the image to show underneath of the brush, otherwise it'll be solid.

Brushes just go in your brush folder under your PS directory.
