Text problem..

Every time I try and use the text tool, when I type, nothing happens. I mean, I square it off, right where I want the text, I click in the text box to type, and then begin to type, and nothing happens. Please help.

What color the background on which you're typing? If it's white, and so is the text... you won't see anything. Same goes for all other colors.

In what font does this happen?

Does the little blinking line move?

The text was a totally different color then the backround. It happens in every font that I tried on it, and no, the blinking line does not move. I don't know what the problem could be, but I did see something odd. When the type box was there and I began to type, nothign would happen, but then when I selected another tool, what I previously typed would be the name of the text's layer. I.E. I type "otbnd" where I want text, click a different tool, the layer will be named "otbnd". Maybe that will help.

Perhaps you selected a different type thing in your toolbar.
Uhm, hard to explain it... there are 3 buttons, one for normal text, one for just the outline... and one for vertical text.
Look into that.

either it's those things...but check the text-panel attributes. Check the kerning and the linebreak height thingie and all of them. Also, you don't need to "draw" a box with the text-tool, try just clicking once somewhere and type. Don't know...weird problem.

I really can't get this to work guys. I'll take a screen shot of it to try to let you guys get a better perspective on it.

Ok, one little update. I opened a few random pictures and tried to type on them, and some worked, some didn't.

What is going on?

Are you typing on a layer that is below an image layer? Your screen preview wont explain much because on the layer palette it shows that you havent typed anything.

Don't draw a text box, just click once and type what you want. Then once its there, you can go to Layer > Type > Convert to Paragraph Text
