This is what i'm understanding so far, slices are like making invis buttons on your "project" so taht they can be links for the web... first of all, if THAT is wrong, correct me...but if it's right, and even if its' wrong... how can i keep the links intact? when i try to save, it says some HELP ME PLEEEEEEEASE!! and also, i need it to be a non-.psd or something that will upload to geocities...unless someone can suggest a place that will accept those uploads... thanx |

i just found a save as web thing... but when i click on that, it opens another window, of which it has shown me the pic optimized as gif, and it shows me the slices... but... when i click a slice, then a menu on the right side comes up w/ all this dithering, and low quality menu choices...confusing the h - e - dubble hockey sticks outta me. hehe |

Slices are like pieces of a puzzle. move the image to Image Ready (at the very bottom of the tool bar) and then create the slices, and then use save optimized as (and images and HTML). Then in the folder you save the items to, you'll have an html file, and an image folder with all the "pieces of the puzzle". Put em on the web, and you image will then be in one piece again. Then you can make the links. |

OK. Take the PSD you want to use, make sure all of your rollovers are on separate (but hidden) layers. Then on the bottom of your main toolbar, click the VERY BOTTOM button. --------------------------- In Imageready, select your "Slice" tool, and slice the image to your heart's desire. When finished, select the "Select Slice" tool (it's under the Slice tool button), and select the slice you want the rollover to occur. Then, there should be a window on the bottom-left of the screen. If it's not there, go to Window-->Show Rollover. Then, there will be 1 little picture of your slice. Click the "New State" button (looks like a page with the corner folded). Then you will have a new little picture of your slice, bringing the total to 2 pictures. That second picture is the "OVER" state. Which means that when your mouse moves over that slice/state, that is what your rollover will look like. On your layers pallete, choose the layer that you made your rollover on, and "SHOW" it. Then, if it isn't already there, move it to the desired location. When you get it in the spot you want it, click the "New State" button 2 more times to get the "CLICK" and "DOWN" states. Then click the original state "NORMAL", then click the "New State" button again to get the "OUT" state. Lather, Rinse, Repeat as needed. If you get stuck, just let us know. |
