how to knock out this background

Hi Im a newbe here.
This is the coolest photoshop forum yet!

Is there an easy way to get rid of the sky in this pic?
Or will I just have to do it the long hard way, with the magic wand?

Go Select>Color Range...

Then click on the blue background and adjust the fuzziness until you get the clearest looking image. Then click OK and hit delete.

iv tried a couple of solutions but all seems to require way tooo much work and i ending up loosing a lot of the lines....

i would like to know also how this would be achieved...
