Can Mac Photoshop read Windows Photoshop files?

Perhaps a dumb question but can I open a Photoshop file made on a Windows PC on Photoshop on a Mac?

A printing press I want to go to says they only accept Mac Photoshop files in .EPS format. Any other help on preparing a print-ready file would be most appreciated...

Yes, and Macs can do it "RightOutOfTheBox."

Actually, most graphic arts and page-layout applications for which there are versions for both Mac and Windows generate cross-platform happy files.

As for advice on getting files ready for print, there are SO many factors to consider, and they'll vary depending on the length, content, color-builds, and post-production requirements, that it would nearly impossible to explain them all without being able to have a look at your actual file(s) and discussing it at length.

Professional printing is NOT a craft for the timid, the easily frustrated or the undereducated, no matter how simple many many easy-to-use graphic arts applications might lead the general public to believe.

I can offer some links that might help you, but you'll need to reallly motivate yourself ainto doing some self-directed studying. One of the most important things you can do with any print job—and it looks like you've already started with this...CHEERS to you for this—is to talk at length with the people doing the printing to find out what THEY require in order to make the production process as smooth and headache-free as possible.
