How is this achieved?

I would like to start adding more digital art to my websites... I stumbled upon this site:

and I really want to be able to design something like the background they use on the first page. How is that created? It has to be photoshop, but I can't decide on a way to create something similar.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated,

It's most likely just brushes. Not the ones that come with PS, but custom ones.

I think www.johnalder.com has some (if the site is up). And there's someone at this board (can't recall who) that has a whole site just for free PS brushes.

I don'tm think it's just brushes...
i think there are some manipulated photos too of some kind of fabrics...
and then played around with brushes on it...

Yeah... lots of images combined on different layers with color layers...

then play around with the artistic filters a bit in photoshop, and perhaps after that you could use some brushes.
