Fake Text on a Path solution

after much time devoted to this question and getting
poor results from one other tutorial i found, i've come up with a relatively easy step by step tut using my fav tool -- Shapes

have a go at it and tell me what u think....

UPDATE
I just added another tutorial getting the same affect
but yet maintains the text to be editable (ie not Vector Mask)
(and neither one uses the Warp Tool)
