I used the filter option to round the corners of a box, but when I go to delete the corners it just lightens the corners and lightens the box around the edges. this is what I end up with faded curves instead of crisp curves. http://zealous.net.nz/corner/fadedcorner.gif What can I do to stop that from happening  I know ps6 well but am new to ps7 |

Are you feathering that? Why not just use the rounded rectangle tool instead?

Another really good method to get nice rounded corners without 'jaggies' or very little. Switch to channels, creat a new one. Make a square or Rectangle with the markee tool. Fill it with white. Deselect it. Now Gaussian Blur it a bunch to make it look like it is feathered out in the image you showed earlier. Using Levels (? - I will have to check on this when I get home - but someone else probably knows which tool you use.) You slide the left and right faders more center and watch as your feathered blur gets more defined and doesnt have jaggies =) Now click on that layer to select it and return to your layers pallet and you have a selected area that is round cornered. |

It's levels...You just have to be careful not do over do it or you'll get the jaggies. I usually select > inverse and clear after that too...

I never have a problem with Jaggies using this method. If you dont go all the way center and leave a fraction it will be smooth.
