How to imitate a detailed image........?

I got a nice picture of an overhead image of a car.. I want to imitate it in Photoshop 6 but I dont know where to start and what I should do.. I dont need to copy every exact detail, but I would like to copy what's important and maybe add my own features.. Im gonna be using the car in a Java game..

Try reading some of the photochopping tutorials at paavo's site. they will give you an idea of how to make realistic car parts, etc.

i'd recommend using a vector program if you want to use it as a cartoonish style. or if you wanna use it as a photo...jus' cut it out using paths and polygonal selection thing. and use the image left over.

i used the pen tool to make an outline of it..now i need to do the detail inside the car (etc. hood).. but i dont know how to use airbrush well.. can someone help me?

use a section of a path - right click - choose make selection or w/e...then do a little section of white with the airbrush. then use the smudge tool.

heres an example of what i made - it took about 10 mins ( full car outline using paths - then the hood with highlights etc)

yes I go on often. I'll write you a mini tutorial if you wish - it will be delayed tho - im back at school tomorrow and have a shakespeare essay to do(2/3 finished) and a business studies project(2/3 finished)
