I'm using PS7 and it's doing something very odd. When I save an image for the web, say the initial color is #020202, going through the save for the web menu, placing my cursor over the same area to look at the color and its changed to #535556. It makes my image look kinda grey like and it suxxxxx. Am I missing something when saving for the web? Any help would be appreciated...

Try entering the color into the color picker as an RGB value instead of Hex. I've noticed sometimes when I paste a hex color into photoshop, it is slightly different than it appears in a web browser. I haven't figured out what causes it or how to fix it though.

WHen I made the image I did it in RGB mode. I also tried entering the RGB instead of the hex value but same results. Now I tried it in cmyk mode but again to no avail. Maybe its just the colors I chose to work with. most strange. I'm gonna try it in another color and see what happens.
thanks for the replies.

alright. after having 3 other people look at the before and after, it has been determined that it is truly a version of a black and white image. the hex codes: #020202, #535556, and #7d7d7d are different variations of black. Although they look like they have a tinge of green in it, it is black. SO, I just added a layer above the one image but below the others and changed the mode to color and changed it!. now it does have a tinge of green in it. (L). Anyway, thanks again for the responses, this site and now this forum has been of great help to me in my adventures with PS..

i had that also, i would enter hex codes and make my images then when i would save them backgrounds wouldnt match other colors that they were supposed to be the same as. Somebody finally told me that this may be cause in a difference in your adobe gamma settings. I havent checked it out myself cause i dont mess with that stuff. But perhaps your adobe gamma settings are different? making colors look different?
