I've just recently recieved a digital camera as a gift, and through using it have discovered what i'm guessing is a problem in my Photoshop color settings. In the past i've largely used photoshop for web design work, and not really with higher quality large photos. Anyways, when i'm opening my photo's in photoshop i'm finding extra graininess. I'd blame the camera, but when i open the pictures with windows' image previewer, even at "actual size" the graininess is not as severe as it is in photoshop. Not having had the necessity, i haven't delved into the color correction etc. side of photoshop yet. Anyways, if anyone has any ideas as to where i should start looking to fix the problem i'd love to hear them!

Thanks for your eyes and time,
Myskran

Try disabling the color settings altogether.

Shift + CTRL + K

then choose turn color management off from the drop down menu.

didn't see an option to directly turn it off, however, setting my color management settings to optimize for onscreen presentations did remove the graininess from my perspective.

It's at the very top. The first drop down menu.

Settings:

Set it to,

Settings: Color Management Off

i've only got 5.5, is turning color management off a newer feature than that?

Oh. You can probably still do it, I just don't remember how. Haven't used 5.5 in a while. Sorry.
