Hi guys, I just managed to get my hands on a tablet, but it seems to be acting a bit weird! I have never had one before and I got the impression that it would just be like drawing on a piece of paper, and that drawing would be transferred to the screen? I just can't seem to get any accuracy out of this thing, it is IMPOSSIBLE to draw any straight lines (they just end up wonky and erratic). There also seems to be a lot of 'lag' with what I am doing on the tablet and what is happening on the screen. I uploaded a picture onto the PC that I wanted to trace around, and then do a Cel-Shade effect on! But it is absolutely impossible to 'trace' around the picture accurately  ! Have I set it up wrong or am I missing something? Or could it just be that this particular tablet is rubbish  The tablet is an AIPTEK Hyper-Pen 8000U 8" x 6", and I am using Photoshop 7 Cheers for any help, THM |

hmmmmm..the lag maybe caused by a slow or faulty USB connection(if it's USB). Tablets are also very sensitive. if you want to draw a straight line, press shift on the keyboard or use a ruler.

Hmmm, yeah, it is USB - but different USB slots don't seem to make it any better! :( It's not really straight lines as such that are the problem! It's ANY line, curve etc etc .... they just come out all wonky and bizarre ;) If I place a picture on the tablet, and try to trace round it, what I get on-screen is something TOTALLY unrecognisable!!! Cheers for the help, THM |

Play with the tablets sensitivity settings. Before I found that I could custom the settings to the programs, I was having a heck of a time. With Photoshop I like it nice and slow with the mouse being proportionate to the screen.

Hmmm, I've had a look, but I don't really seem to have any sensitivity settings as such? I can change the tracking mode between 'Absolute' and 'Relative', the 'Pen Pressure' settings and the 'Offset' ... but that is about it really? The pen picks up when it is about 1cm from the tablet, which is kinda annoying too! I just wrote my name using the pen, and then using a mouse .... the one with the mouse is 10x better than the tablet one .. hahah! :D System specs are: - Windows XP Pro Athlon XP 2100+ (slightly overclocked) Gigabyte GA-7VRXP MoBo 768MB PC2700 DDR Ram GeForce4 Ti4400 (slightly overclocked) Enermax 400w PSU SB Audigy 2 X Maxtor 40GB HDD LG DVD/CD-RW Thanks again for the help, THM. |

you'd be surprised, but most tablets are more sensitive than paper is to lead/or ink... its just somethignto get used to... aka (draw big at first enlarge the document to like 300 percent er so) that worked for me at first
