But I am not sure what to call this. I have a bad habit of drawing something only to realize that I have just drawn on the wrong layer (one that has something on it already.) I was curious if there was a way to preserve what you just did, but undo it and then re-do it on a new layer without losing it? I usually just cntrl-z to undo it (or delete the state in history), then make a new layer and manually re do it, but you lose the work you just did on the wrong layer.

if conditions allow it, you can cut it out *full house motions* and then delete from history, then just paste it to a new layer. actually i think if you're able to cut it out...you dont need to delete history. i'll get back to you. but as of now i dont think there is a way...
