New to all of this... :-) Am trying to follow the Aqua Gel Text Tutorial and am having all sorts of problems?! Specifically, on step 2 it says "Now Ctrl+Click on your text layer to select it, and make a new layer above it. Go to select/modify/contract and use a value of 5. " Whenever I do this I get an error indicating "No Pixels Were Selected." Although the "running ants" selection border is active on my text?! Any help would be very much appreciated! oh yeah - am using ps7 |

If you followed the directions precisely, PS will not give you that error message because those steps does not modify any pixel data in a layer; rather it'll just change the selection area. Make sure you're not trying to CTRL+CLICK the new layer you created just before Contracting it.

Click the text tool, select font & size, & write my text note: at this point I have 2 layers: background and a text layer 3. CTRL+CLICK my text layer, which selected what I have just typed 4. Click the New Layer button, which creates a layer just above my text layer 5. Select... Modify... Contract... Set to 5.... OK... WARNING: No pixels were selected Those are the exact steps I am following and from the tut... |
