A scratch disk is your harddrive. It's what PS uses for swapping stuff. If it's full, that means that PS doesn't have enough memory to do something.

So, try cleaning some stuff off your harddrive, and/or defragmenting and that should help.

...Correct me if I'm wrong somewhere.

Ram is cheap again. 64 MB is not much to run PS with. Go buy a 512 stick and watch everything get smoother =)

if you have more than one HDs, go to preferences > plugins & scratchdisks in photoshop, and change one of them to another HD, one with space left on it.

If you are using an OS newer than win95 - get more Ram. Plain and simple. Its like trying to run your car on 2 cylinders, and the last time I looked 512mb Ram was under $100 Canadian. so that means it is roughly 60-70$ US? You will find PS and your whole computer running better.

512 isn't quite under 100$ canadian yet... I upgraded my 128 to 364(or something around there, I forget the 'exact' numbers) for 100$.

I get the same problems, to be honest, it's annoying :(

I can give you a link to places that sell 512 ddr and pc ram for under 100 ca.... unless you are using Rambus.
I bought another stick a month ago and the prices have dropped almost half since then (duh!)
Here is one:

I dont know if you are in BC or not, but Phase 1 is pretty cheap as well.

After he defrags I would suggest using JV16 power utilities and cleaning out your registry. If it hasnt been done for a long time it is probably pretty big.

You should notice a big improvement after more ram, defragging, and cleaning out the registry.

But then again it is just a suggestion and you can do what you want =)
