uhhh - I dunno if I should post this here - It's not really so big a deal but it's annoying as hell. Does this happen to any of you guys?: - whenever I have a very intricate selection (lasoo) it kinda "connects the ends" all of a sudden. This only happens when I turn and twist a lot... Let's say I am taking out an object from a background.... I select a part of it and then....poofff the ends connect and I have a closed selction... and I have to manually erase wround the edges and then select the rest ... It really bugs the heck out of me.... I sometime lose a lot of time due to that... maybe you guys know of a way to prevent that..?// |

If you double-click, the lasso automatically closes. Use the Pen tool, it's more effcient and cleaner in my opinion.

I know that if I double click the selection closes man - It does that without me double clicking - that's the problem... as for the pen tool - it may be cleaner but I am more used to the lasoo and I feel like I have more control over it somhow.... |

humm thats odd try this if it happens again... when still in selection mode(dancing ants) -- hold the Shift key and continue with the Laso Toll over the areas that were missed... This will allow u to continue with the selection process... warning very tricky if whats remaining is only a small area, may require some serious zooming heathrowe |

one very far fetched thing could be (I've got it sometimes) that you have an application running behind photoshop somewhere (like an instant message - app), "stealing" the focus for a second. I've noticed that if photoshop goes out of focus (not the active app, not on top, you know..), it closes an "open" lassoing-session. :p |

The problem when I use my mom's comp is the double-click speed is REALLY slow (mine is set at 90% to max :() and Photoshop registers that as a double-click. Set the double-click speed higher... :p * goes to think of other odd scenarios .. * |

hey mo0cchan - that may be it.. but I really can't do that because it's not just my mouse - it's the wacom pen too - and it uses the pressure thing and it's complicated because I need that feature often.... and oh well.... it's strange.. heathrowe...the Shift thing is ok but if you're cutting something really curved and that "poof" thing happens you get selections that contain both parts you need and parts you don't - like background stuff... and it's not the other app thing - that happened to me too and I enriched the language with a few colorful expressions but it's not the case here... that is easily taken care of if you forbid chat clients to pop up on a new message.... also very peculiar thing that happened to me - ICQ has a few shortcuts that coincide with PS - boy was that a drag - I disabled those... I sometimes get the feeling that you get a limited number of clicks per lasso selection... and if you click a number of times above what you're allowed it closes the selection. I get that feeling because this only happens on very complex selections with a lot of clicks to change direction... I learned not to try and cut out something complex in one selection.... If I try to select the outline of a person it always happens...especially if it's a woman and the hair is curly - boy I hate cutting out curly hair.... |
