how to edit .gif?

Do any of you know how to take the background out of a .gif in PS7? Well it's not really the background that I need to edit, it's text. If anyones knows how to removes the text without effecting the background, please let me know.

ermm you can't put simply.

You can edit GIF's but they won't be in layers. To edit GIF's choose - Image>Mode>RGB.

If you havea predominant colour it may be of use to use the colour range command to extract the background, wither that or one of a thousand ways of extracting the background.

uumm, if I knew how to extract the background that would probably make it the easiest. =\
