1) make sure your text is large enough 2) put your desired scene on a new layer 3) select your scene layer 4) CTRL + Click on the text layer 5) make sure you are still on the scene layer, but with the text selected. 6) Hit Delete 7) PLay with the settings on the text layer and scene layer, possibly stroking or using the emboss settings on the scene layer to make it look like it's inside the text. |

Window-->View Layers On the bottom of that window, there are a bunch of little buttons There is one that looks like a page with the corner folded. That is the "New Layer" button. --------------------------- If you Paste your background into the project you want to create the text effects in, you will automatically make a new layer. |

I understand what you are saying but it is not permitting me to paste an image to the text I created. I used the little button you specified and it creates an empty layer box.

Try this, Put the image above the text layer. Option (mac) or Alt (pc) click on the line between the two layers. This will create a clip group. If you want to reposition the image inside the text, activate the image layer and use the Move tool, same goes for the text. If you want to move the together, link them. Good luck, Greg |

Open the picture you want to fill the letters with. Type the text on the picture (which will open a new layer). Ctrl Click on your text layer. (will make the marching ants around the text). Click on the text layer and drag it to the garbage. Select - Inverse delete (backspace) Ctrl D to deselect. Then you can add any of the layer styles.. Lastic |

-Open up your background image -Type in your text and place it in the desired location -Select your background layer, hold down Ctrl and click on the text layer -Make sure your background layer is active, Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V -You will now have a new layer with the text filled with the background |

I also believe that the text needs to be rendered. It won't allow you to paste into an object that is still editable text. It applies that option to objects not words that are still in their native font mode. I believe it is located under Layers - Type - Render Render the text then do a select in the open area surrounding your rendered type with the magic wand. Select inverse, then Paste Into. |

Make the background layer active (not the text layer). Then paste and PS will create a new layer above the background layer.
