hi all, im having trouble saving a file as jpeg in photoshop 7.0 I create a random photoshopfile, and save it as i'm used to. With all the standard options, but when i check the file afterwards my computer (internet explorer i mean) cant open the file. I just get a small red cross and that's it. But, when i have the project opened in photoshop, and i press print screen, and paste this images in a new photoshop file and save it as jpeg i CAN open it. (ofcourse i can just crop out my image, but this isnt supposed to be) Very strange Anyone ? |

Have you tried opening it in anything apart from IE? Also, which JPEG options are you using? |

yes i've also tried it in other programs. For the jpeg options: i use quality 12 and baseline ("Standard") Size 56.6Kbps But i only seem to have the problem, when i create an image in photoshop, but on a computer that isn't mine. For example, i create an image on my brothers computer. I save it and copy it through my network to my computer. I open it on my computer (we have the same photoshop), and save as jpeg => cant open the jpeg If i create something on my own computer and save as jpeg => it works |

It may sound like lame advice but if you are manually naming your files and the file extensions then try - .jpg instead of .jpeg

One other thing. Check if this computer has an alternative JPEG plugin installed, a few exist, and if it's taken over photoshop's jpeg options, it may be the problem. |

Just save it as a GIF instead. Go to Save for Web and save it as a GIF but if it has slices then it would save as HTML.

thats no solution. There are very distinct differences between gif and jpeg, not least of all the fact that gif is not royalty free!

One other thing it might be...ive had this problem before, and what it turned out to be for me was that I had the file in CMYK mode when i saved it to Jpg. So, check to make sure your file is in RGB mode. If that doesnt work, then I dont know what to tell ya.
