fire explosion

I need to make an explosion effect in photoshop. I can't seem to make my sun have more depth and volume.. so that it's explosion has this 3d effect. I cant figure out how to add more puffiness around it and add more black to it making it more realistic... please help! :confused:

render a few layers of black and orange cluds
then blur them a bit you'll probably have to mess with layer effects too. then eraser tool away unwanted fire.
