I don't know if this is advanced, but how do you quickly make a rectangle with dotted stroke in Photoshop? I am trying to emulate rectangles from http://www.davidcarson.com So far I've been jumping back and forth from Illustrator and this is getting tiring. Thanks! |

I'd use CSS for that. If you have non-stright edges, then you'll have a problem. If not, then use this: .class{border:dotted 1px black;} in your stylesheet. |

Thanks for the tip! How about in Photoshop, though, for the mock-up? |

create a brush with the same width gaps as the brush is wide. Then make a path with the pen tool and right click on it, choose stroke path and select the paintbrush (with your new brush already selected on the paintbrush tool). I think you can do the same thing with selections instead of paths, try it. |

I've recently done this - but my method was not as nice as devlkore's. I basically selected my object, created a new layer for it, created a layer behind it, did Select > Modify > Expand by X pixels, then used the eraser to cut bits out - but as I said. Messy way of doing it.
