I don't really know if this is the english word for what I want to do, so I can explain. I have a photo of some people and want to extract them somehow so I can fill the body-shapes with a color. I also would like to only have the outline of the bodies. I see this done all around, but have no clue how to do it myself. Help anyone?? -superjan- |

Lasso tool - select your people from the pic as carefully as possible and the Ctrl+J - then fill the with the color of your choice or Ctrl+click on the layer - make a new layer with the selection still on and stroke it for just an outline.... - This question should have gone to the beginners section

There are many ways to make selections. Read the tutorials on www.teamphotoshop.com to learn quite a few techniques. Then just fill the selection with a color.

Make you cutout as best as you can. Go to the Layer Styles Menu. Check Color Overlay and choose your color. Make a new layer. Link the new layer with the one that has the color overlay. Then select Merge Linked in the Layers option drop down menu. |

I'd go with the pen tool!

magnetic lasso is easy, but the quality might not be as high as some of the other methods outlined.
