I was browsing some templates the other day, and really liked the effect presented in this design. How do you develop this dotted type of overlay/pattern in Photoshop-? Thanks! |

What have you tried so far? It's REALLY easy to work out how to do it....zoom in enough to see individual pixels and it ought to be pretty obvious.

You've already half-way answered your own question with the title of your thread... Make a new document sized 4 x 4 pixels with a transparent background. Now zoom in and put one pixel in the upper left corner with the marquee tool or pencil tool or whatever you want. Select the whole image with CTRL + A. Now go to Edit > Define Pattern. Name the pattern whatever you want. Now go to the image you want to use the effect on, choose the Paint Bucket tool, in the options bar at the top, set it to fill with a Patten instead of a color. (it's a drop down menu). Now just click on the picture and it will fill it with the pixel pattern. You can try all kinds of other shapes and patterns and get them to tile too. |

I see a 3 X 3 pixel pattern, with a 1 px square in the middle. This keeps the top-most row and left-most column from placing that center pixel right up against the edge of the image.
