Brush help..

This might be a dumb question, but I can't figure it out. When I use the brush tool all I get are crosshairs (precise). I went to the prefrences and it's set for brush size (circle size). Any suggestions as to how to get the circle back instead of the cross hairs? I'm using PS 7.0.1

When I was checking the correct wording in the prefrence files, I double checked that it was set for brush size (and it was) but hit okay and now all of a sudden I have the circle. Don't know...
