It's basically like a Macro in Microsoft Word. It records a set of steps that you perform in photoshop, then you can play back all those steps at the push of a button. It helps with repetitive tasks like resizing images and adding an effect to a series of images. With Actions, you could resize an entire directory of images to certain dimensions at the press of a button. To use them, you just need to put it in your Actions folder, which is in the same directory as where you installed Photoshop. Then you find it in the list of actions in the Actions palette and press the play button. If it isn't listed in the actions palette, click the "right facing arrow" at the top of the palette and the click load actions or whatever it says there. Then choose the file that you unzipped to your actions directory, and it should be added to the list. then you can select it and play it. |
