Hi guys, I've got a question. Let's assume that I already have a parchment picture, but I want to draw a map over it. Could anyone explain how to get the quill pen effect? Something that looks like it was naturally written on. Additionally, how could I go about putting mountains and trees on the map? They don't have to be fancy at all (example: just little ^^^^ like things for mountains, and stick figure trees). All help is appreciated.

a hand drawn effect is very difficult to replicate since the computer dealts with straight lines. Some of the more organic strokes I've done started with a line drawn using the paintbrush tool with a very small brush, then ocean ripple with a very small setting. Gaussian blur it to even the edges, and then play about with the unsharp mask filter. It looks like a broken, blotchy line but its still not perfect. play around with the filters and see what you come up with. Share it with us when you do too ;) |
