how do i do something like this....

sorry if this is basic for some of you gurus but i cannot seem to duplicate it..... 3 pots of coffee dont even help (i'm exagerrating but not by much)... perhaps i need to leave it alone and come back to it but i could really use some help...

i think there is a blur or something but no matter what i try mine always tend to look too.... uh... something not like that!!!!

i'm using photoshop 7...

So you're trying to duplicate that red image?

Just looks like a couple of red squares that have been Gaussian blurred to me. (Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur)

Maybe even motion blur!!!

thank you for your quick reply... i was attempting to "blur" it but it just looked too harsh... i had to play around with the motion blur and the gaussian blur to get it right...
