Wow, this is a great site!! Here is my problem. I currently purchase photoshop templates from a variety of sources, and customize them for my clients. The problem is.: If I have text in photoshop, when I do a "save for web" and choose "all html and images", it saves any text as an image. How do I make sure that when I save a .psd file for use on the web, it will automatically insert tables for me to put text into? thanks for any help. Ollie |

well....hmmmmmmmm....RTFM. Saving HTML Editable Text and Tables in Photoshop = Impossible. You need a web design program such as frontpage or dreamweaver. Photoshop is a graphics program not web design program! |

SatanClaus, glad to see that you're so helpfull...RTFM??? I have, so ...KMFA... I would venture to say that 90% of designers use Photoshop to layout their original images for their "design", then code behind it. So, your statement that it is not a design program, may be a little skewed. I'm just asking the question, because I have seen it done, and did not inquire to the person as to how they did it. |

In Imageready you CAN select slices (which are just tables) to be html text. Use the slice select tool and select a slice. Go to the slice properties box (go up to Window>Slice and turn it on if its not already on) Change the "Type" to "No Image" and keep the checkbox checked for "Text is HTML". Here you can even set table colors if you need to. There are a few limitations when doing HTML text in this method. Imageready can't view HTML text. You have to preview the .html page you created with Imageready in an actual web browser like IE or Opera before you can view it. You also cannot adjust text properties in Imageready. Meaning you cannot adjust what font you want to use or change font size within Imageready. That all requires an external html editor. If I were you I wouldn't even bother with using Imageready in such a method and just use Dreamweaver to edit tables and input/edit html text. |

exactly....Dreamweaver rules! If you use Dreamweaver to design it, use layers, but with % tags, they look better than tables and are easier to edit without the design being messed up. Note: I said impossible in Photoshop...so really...I'm still correct! :D |

Thanks for all the pointers and input. I like the "notepad" version too. There are too many people out there that how no clue how to code, and the Frontpage and Dreamweaver crowd is getting "dumbed down", if they didn't know html to begin with. Thanks again, Ollie |
