ok a girl i know wants me to fix the colors on a picture of her taken from a webcam. Her face is BRIGHT BLUE from the monitor so everything is extremely oversaturated. i've tried hue editing, color replacing, color balance, channel mixer, but nothing seems to look right. the best i can manage is to reduce the effect of the blue light. if anyone can do better or can tell me what to do it'd be greatly appreciated because this is bugging the hell out of me! http://ta_xxl.tripod.com/pics/original.txt Original http://ta_xxl.tripod.com/pics/subtle.txt "fixed" http://ta_xxl.tripod.com/pics/smurf.psd the psd i've got of it |

Have her get another picture! Seriously, those cams need A LOT of light to make anything close to a decent image. Have her get as much regular incandescant light in the room as she can and turn the monitor OFF. She's a cute girl, and the pose and her expression isn't bad at all, and it could be fixed. BUT, it's still a crappy capture to begin with, and as the old saying goes, you can't polish a turd. |

hey xxl, I honestly snagged your picture and tried to correct it - really - I took about 20 minutes and came up with a bunch of junk. - my advice: turn the pic to black and white and run a gaussian blur (slight) - call it a day, dude.

this is about as good as I can do in 15mins but you'll get the idea and maybe you'll be able to improve on it from the PSD: Edited Pic PSD FILE hope it helps. |

hmm you took a pretty different approach than i did but no matter how it's done it just never looks perfect. maybe utopian was right, you can't polish a turd. but i do like the approach you took for it, i'll definitely try that out next time i've gotta fix something. i generally stay away from the blending modes because i haven't quite figured out their uses yet. but i just bought a nice hardcover (full-color too!) photoshop book so things are looking up hehe. do they have classes for stuff like this?
