Exporting images

I`m using Photoshop 5.0 and I can`t export files with JPEG or GIF extensions because export is greyed out.I know that this question is the second time that comes up on this forum, I tried to use the solution given to Vivid on 28.03.2002 ,I am in Index Color Mode but is still not working.

Switch to RGB.

I got it.I reinstaled the software and now its working but I can`t save it just like GIF.I don`t get JPEG option.

It's been a long time since i've use 5.0, so I don't really remember how to do all that stuff. Seems like you have to be in RGB and flatten the image before you can export it. But like I said I really don't remember.
